How to Find Us

We want visiting your loved ones to be as simple and stress-free as possible. Whether you’re travelling by car, train or bus, The Check House is easy to reach and well-connected to nearby towns and cities. Below, you’ll find clear directions and local transport options to help you plan your journey.

The Check House is located at 61 Beer Road, Seaton, EX12 2PR. It’s easily reached via Seaton village: from Exeter or Honiton take the A30/A35 into Seaton and follow signs onto Beer Road (heading east). Visitors from the west can follow the A3052 through Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth into Seaton, then turn onto Beer Road. We have ample free onsite parking for families when they arrive. The drive from Axminster (to the east) takes about 20 minutes via the A358 and A305

Seaton itself no longer has a railway station, so the nearest train links are a short distance away. The closest station is Axminster (EX13), about a 20-minute drive from Seaton. Trains from Exeter St Davids or London Waterloo serve Axminster on the South Western Railway line. From Axminster station, families can take the local Stagecoach 379 bus into Seaton or use a taxi for the 10-mile journey. Alternatively, visitors can travel by train to Exeter or Honiton and then switch to a Stagecoach X30/9A bus into Seaton. In all, the trip from Exeter to The Check House by train and bus typically takes around 1–1.5 hours.

Stagecoach South West operates several services that stop near The Check House. For example, the 379 bus runs between Axminster and Beer (via Seaton) and stops on Beer Road close to the care home. The X30 (and 9A) routes link Exeter and Honiton with Seaton, arriving at the Seaton bus station on Manor Road, just a few minutes’ walk from Beer Road. In Seaton village, look for stops on Manor Road or Beer Road (near the Townsend House Surgery and village centre) when using public buses. Families should check the Stagecoach or Traveline websites for the latest timetables and route information.

Our home is fully accessible for visitors with mobility needs. The main entrance is step-free with a gentle ramp up to the door. Inside, wide corridors, level floors and a passenger lift mean wheelchairs and walkers can move easily between floors. We also provide designated accessible parking bays. Our friendly staff are always available to assist visitors to and from resident rooms, ensuring everyone can enjoy their visit comfortably.
