A Christmas Jumper Day Out

As one of our many festive events and activities, everybody at The Check House Care Home in Seaton celebrated Christmas Jumper Day recently. Staff and residents made donations and we raised a brilliant £52.50 for the charity Save the Children.
The festive jumpers kept us warm during our visit to the nearby Otter Garden Centre, where we spent the afternoon looking at all the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. The colourful lights and music along with the festive patterns on our clothes got us all in the Christmas spirit. Before we headed back home, we stopped by the cafe to warm up with a coffee and slice of cake.

Outings like these are especially beneficial in the darker winter months; wrapping up warm and having a change of environment is a great way to raise spirits. Getting outdoors also encourages movement and reduces stress, which can improve sleep and cognitive function.
The sensory stimulation from the festive decorations promotes comfort, joy and calmness. Taking this opportunity to raise money for a meaningful charity also gives our residents a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
There's always something going on at The Check House Care Home, and we'd love for you to be involved. If you'd like to stay up to date with all our latest news, give us a follow on social media or keep an eye on our website.
